About Us

Ross Scarsellato is the President and Founder of Sierra Defense. Ross began his career in the firearms industry as a instructor in 2017, initially obtaining certifications through the USCCA and later the NRA. He soon partnered with a prominent firearms training company, dedicating himself to the concealed carry and tactical sectors. Ross immersed himself in gunfighting techniques and practices, successfully certifying numerous individuals in safe firearm use and concealed carry.

Following the landmark Supreme Court decision in Bruen, new opportunities emerged, prompting Ross to bring his expertise to Maryland. However, changes in state legislation severely restricted the ability of Maryland residents to carry firearms, resulting in a significant downturn in the local market. This led Ross back home to Ohio, where he focused on his family.

Coincidentally, upon his return, Ross sought temporary employment and visited Summit Armory, his favorite local gun store. By chance, the store owner, a long-time friend, needed immediate help. Within a year, Ross became the store's gunsmith, further solidifying his expertise by earning a formal degree in gunsmithing shortly thereafter.

Recognizing the need to provide his family with a better quality of life beyond his gunsmithing salary, Ross founded Sierra Defense. Initially started as a means of supplemental income, Sierra Defense quickly evolved into a successful holster manufacturing company, thanks to Ross's dedication and support from friends within the industry.

Today, Sierra Defense stands poised for substantial growth, continuing Ross’s mission to provide exceptional products and craftsmanship in the holster manufacturing space.
